All 3 Maryellen Book Covers & Mini Doll Images

The images and descriptions for all 3 Maryellen books are posted on the AG Publishing website! All books were written by Valerie Tripp and will be released on Aug. 27th.

*From the enlarged image of the mini doll, it seems for certain Maryellen's eye color will be green. It is yet unclear if it will be a new shade of green, the "laser" green (like Felicity's eyes), or the dark pinwheel green (like MyAG 41), or hazel. Book 1: The One & Only

Description: Maryellen Larkin is nine years old and longs to stand out, but in a family with five brothers and sisters it's easy to get lost in the shuffle! A painting mishap gains her some attention, but not the kind she's been longing for. Being invited to stay in at recess and practice her handwriting earns Maryellen a new friend, but what does that mean for her old friendships? Then, Maryellen is wishing for a white Christmas like the ones in the movies (not very likely in Florida!). Will she find a way to make her dream come true?

Price: $9.99 USD

Book 2: Taking Off

Description: Turning ten is a big deal, and Maryellen Larkin wants to celebrate it in a very special way. Will she choose a western theme or decide on a superstar celebration, or will the event turn out to be something even Maryellen doesn't expect? And which party participant surprises her the most? Then, Dad comes home with a silver surprise and big plans for a family vacation. On the trip, what will Maryellen discover about Joan and her wedding plans? What will Maryellen decide about her own plans and "flying high?"

Price: $9.99 USD

Journey Book: The Sky's the Limit

Description: What if you suddenly found yourself in Maryellen’s world during the 1950s? How would your life be changed, what would you do to fit in—and, more importantly, what would you do to stand out? Join Maryellen on an adventure where the two of you can put on poodle skirts and head to a school dance (they were called sock hops back then!), enter a contest, or take a trip in a streamlined silver camper that looks like a rocket ship! Your journey back in time can take whatever twists and turns you choose, as you select from a variety of exciting options in this multiple-ending story.

Close up of Mini Doll's Face:

Close up of Eyes:

Comparison of Face Molds:
*Based off these comparisons I am assuming Maryellen will have the classic mold since her mini face shape is more similar to Caroline than Rebecca (who has the Josefina mold).*

Comparison of Eye Color:
Left: Rebecca's Eyes (Hazel)
Right: Maryellen's Eyes (?)
*Based off these comparison photos, it is very possible Maryellen may have the hazel eyes, but I think her eyes look more green still and am hoping they will use green eyes for her instead of hazel.*

  1. Hmmm, does the mini doll description say brown eyes? Am I reading that sentence wrong? Look green to me.

Any guess on which mold she is?

    Thanks for the info!

    1. Good catch! I didn't even notice the description is different from the picture. I wonder if it was a typo? It's confusing because the mini doll picture definitely shows a doll with green eyes. :)

  2. I too noticed the "brown eyes" in the doll description! Strange... This is one mini doll I really like, she is super cute (and I'm not usually fond of the mini dolls). Can't wait to see the 18" released!

    1. I think the mini doll is really cute too! And I'm super curious about how the hair will translate to the 18 inch version. :D

  3. I compared Rebecca and Maryellen's eyes... Rebecca's eyes are definitely more brown-olive then Maryellen's. http://i1368.photobucket.com/albums/ag175/LegendaryNarwhal/compsarison_zpseek6i439.png

    1. That's a wonderful comparison image! Thank you for sharing it! I agree, I still think Maryellen's eyes are more green compared to Rebecca's. I hope the description is just a typo. ^_^

    1. Yup! It's one of those rare moments when I think "I hope the 18 inch is just as cute as the mini" instead of "Gosh, I hope the mini is just as cute as the 18 inch version." ^_^

  5. Oooh, I'm going to have to get these books - I was born in southern Florida (though not raised there), I come from a big family (oldest of four kids), I always wanted a White Christmas (not common in Southern New Jersey, either - I was in my early 30's before I got one!), and my mom and a good friend of mine were born in the 50's and have lots of great stories about this era. Though I probably won't buy the doll, a lot of her wardrobe - love the red-and-white checkered outfit on "The Sky Is the Limit" - will probably come home for my mid-20th century #58 Whitney. :)

    1. Please please please share pictures if you get the outfits for Whitney! :D I think all of the images we've seen of outfits for Maryellen would flatter #58 so much. ^_^

  6. Sounds cute I love the era and her stories but am wondering how her hair will be and if it will look strange out of pony tail or not...definatley keeping an eye out on thus one!

    1. That's a good point, since her hair is in such a high ponytail. Hopefully it won't have the strange, uneven ends when taken down. :)
