Lissie & Lilly: Episode 5 - Family Ties

Lissie & Lilly: Family Ties (Photostory)

Lissie: Samantha, why do you always wear that ribbon?
Lilly: You’re right Lissie, I just noticed it, but you do always have that ribbon Samantha. Is there something special about it?
Lissie: Are you really a spy in disguise and that ribbon has a hidden camera? Or a secret communicator with your mother ship? Or maybe a super powerful laser detonator ultra mega weapon to fight off the zombie apocalypse?

Samantha: Hahahaha, it’s nothing near as exciting as that Lissie. Only… It’s just that… Well, promise me you won’t laugh.
Lilly: Of course we wouldn’t do that, Samantha!
Lissie: No guarantees on laughing, the only thing I can promise is I will still love you.
Samantha: I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to tell both of you. This ribbon is all I have left from before I came here.
Lilly: You mean, from before you joined our family?
Lissie: With the alien?

Samantha: I don’t really know. I can’t remember much except being in a dark box. I don’t know who my family is or was, or even if I had one. There were lots of other boxes. I kept thinking someone would surely come for me, but the box never opened.
Lilly: Oh Samantha!
Samantha: I guess I wasn’t really wanted or needed. But still… this ribbon is all I have left from that time. I thought, maybe, just maybe, someone really loved me once before and put it on me. And even though it’s silly, I can’t seem to let go of it. It’s all I have left that ties me to my family.
Lissie: It’s not silly at all!

Samantha: Thank you Lissie, Sawako Lilly. If you’ll excuse me, I am going up to the bedroom. I suppose I need to sort out my thoughts.
Lilly: Take as much time as you need Samantha! Lissie and I will be here for you!

Lissie: Lilly, do you think Samantha is happy with us?
Lilly: I don’t know Lissie. I guess I never really thought Samantha might still miss her old family, if she had one.
Lissie: We’re her family now! She has us!
Lilly: I know we feel that way Lissie, but do you think Samantha knows that? Maybe she still feels like an outsider or guest with us.

Lissie: I just had a world shattering, glacier melting, most awesome idea of the highest order! Come on Lilly!
Lilly: Lis –
Lissie: No time to explain! Time and dinner wait for no man!

Lilly: I have to admit, I’m impressed Lissie! This is a great idea!
Lissie: I like this one!
Lilly: Ooo, but this color would look so lovely on Samantha!
Lissie: Arrrrgggghhh! This one is perfect too!
Lilly: I don’t think I can decide Lissie!
Lissie: You know what that means Lilly.
Lilly: Oh no… Lissie… You do this every time we go shopping.

Lissie: LILLY! IT’S A CHICKEN!!!
Lilly:
Lissie: LET’S BUY IT!!! IT’S A LIVING CHICKEN!!!
Lilly: Lissie, what on earth would we do with a chicken?
Lissie: I would take it on walks! And teach it how to attack invaders! And every morning it’ll lay a golden egg! With chocolate inside! Or gold!
Lilly:

Lilly: Samantha, can we come in?
Samantha: Oh of course! I’m sorry that I was so down earlier.
Lilly: Lissie and I wanted to give you something.

Samantha: Oh Sawako Lilly! A pink ribbon! It’s so beautiful!
Lilly: I know we can’t take the place of your former family, and we’re not trying to replace them. Only, we wanted to let you know, we love you very much and you’re important to us.
Samantha: I-I don’t know what to say!

Lissie: Don’t say anything until you see everything.
Samantha: Oh my goodness! Did you buy the entire store?
Lilly: We couldn’t decide which one we liked the best for you, so we went bought them all.
Lissie: You have one for each day of the week now!
Lilly: Of course, if you don’t want to wear them, that’s fine too! I know your ribbon is very import –
Lilly: Samantha! Your ribbon! Where is it?

Samantha: Well, you see, I did some thinking while I was up here, and…

Lilly: Oh!
Lissie: What did you do???
Samantha: I cut my ribbon in half.
Lissie: But why??? Now how will you ward off the zombie hoards?
Samantha: I kept thinking, you two are my family. You’re more important to me that anyone. When the box finally opened, it was you two that helped me out. You are my family, and because this ribbon represents that, I wanted to give a part of it to each of you.
Lilly: Thank you Samantha! Lissie and I were worried you didn’t feel at home with us! We were so worried you wanted to go back.
Samantha: Never! I wouldn’t trade the two of you for anything! You are my family!

Lilly: Here, let’s put on our new ribbons! I’ll tie yours Samantha.
Samantha: Come here Lissie, and I’ll tie yours on too!
Lissie: Does this mean we’re really a family now? We’ll always help each other out and be there for each other?
Samantha: Absolutely Lissie!
Lilly: I don’t know… if the zombie army does attack because you brought that chicken home… I’m going to run the other way.
Samantha: You know, Sawako Lilly, I’ll probably be right next to you, running away. Good luck Lissie!
Lissie: Hey! What happened to family?
Samantha: All’s fair in love, war, and zombies!

I hope you enjoyed this episode of L&L! :D For once I don’t have an impending exam (not til Friday leastways). I was trying to keep the spirit of the story light hearted, but I also hope I properly conveyed the sincerity of my message. For those who are from adopted families or step families, or trying to get used to your new family, I hope you and yours will embrace each other. For anyone with a family, I know it can be hard at times, but at the end of the day, they will stand with you and be there for you. I don’t know where I would be without mine and as the holidays start approaching, I try to remind myself how lucky I am to have them.

Have a great week everyone! Celebrate Halloween and eat tons of candy safely! (I’m not a doctor yet so it’s okay if I advocate unhealthy diets for a bit more right? ;) )

Lissie & Lilly: Episode 4 - What the Big Person Left

Lissie & Lilly: What The Big Person Left (Photostory)

This episode is a follow up to the last episode (the girls clean up). Click here to read it. :D To thank them for their hard work, I left them a present!

Sam: Lissie! Sawako Lilly! Come and look at this!
Lilly: Oh what is it Sam?
Sam: I’m not sure. I think our Big Person left it for us this morning.
Lissie: Why are you two just staring at it? It’s not going to open itself!

Lissie: Are you ready?
Lilly: You’re the one who said it’s not going to open itself.
Sam: Oh just open it Lissie! I can’t wait to see what our Big Person left for us!
Lissie: Okay… Here goes!

Lissie: ….
Sam: ….
Lilly: ….
Sam: Did our Big Person…
Lilly: Leave us…
Lissie: PING PONG BALLS!!!

Lilly: Don’t be silly, Lissie! These aren’t ping pong balls! They have wrappers.
Lissie: What else could they be? Ping pong balls are just this size!
Sam: Actually… I think these must be that Big People treat, chocolate.
Lilly: Chocolate? I do remember our Big Person saying that.
Lissie: Yeah! She always asks for it whenever she has a lot of studying to do! But what do we do with it?

Sam: I think when our Big Person eats it, she first pulls on these two tails like this.

Lissie: AHHHH!!!! There’s something inside!!! It’s all silver and dangerous looking! Hurry you two!
Run and save yourselves! No one can stop the bomb now!!!
Lilly: *giggles* Oh Lissie, you’re so dramatic.
Sam: Hahaha! That’s no bomb Lissie! It’s what our Big Person calls ‘Heaven on Earth’.

Lilly: Look Lissie! You shook it so hard and it fell out!
Lissie: Are you positive it’s not a ping pong ball Sam? It looks just like one!

Sam: I’m positive! Look, we all have one!
Lilly: I think it’s just another wrapper. I don’t think chocolates are supposed to be silver.
Lissie: Or…. THEY’RE ALL BOMBS!!!! WE NEED TO DETONATE THEM NOW! HAND ME THE PLIERS!!!!
Sam: Actually, I think Sawako Lilly is right, Lissie. I doubt our Big Person would give us something so dangerous.
Lilly: Also… We don’t have pliers Lissie.
Lissie: Then we’re all doomed!

Sam: Oh you were right Sawako Lilly! This looks just like what our Big Person is always munching on!
Lilly: Mhhhmmmm! It smells wonderful! No wonder our Big Person calls it “God’s Mercy!”
Sam: I’ve also heard her call chocolate the “Drug of Joy,” but it always sounded dangerous.
Lilly: I think it’s safe. Our Big Person wouldn’t leave us anything dangerous after all, right Lissie?
Lissie:
Lilly: Lissie?

Lissie: It’s…. so…. GOOD!!!!
Sam: Lissie! You already snuck a bite?
Lilly: Oh Samantha, I don’t want to wait anymore. Let’s taste ours as well!
Sam & Lilly: *munching noises*
Sam: … Oh…. My…. Goodness….
Lilly: This is… the most… DELICIOUS THING EVER!
Lissie: VIVA LA HEAVEN’S MANNA!

Lissie: To all the Big People out there, give your dolls chocolate! Let us carry the burden of those calories for you.

Lissie: Remember – Dolls like chocolate too!

Short and sweet (literally!) this week. ^_^ I’m going to let all of you in on a secret…. I…. was the one…. Who really ate all the chocolate and passed the blame to the girls!!!! :) Hope everyone is having a good week so far.

Lissie & Lilly: Episode 3 - The Girls Clean Up

Lissie & Lilly: The Girls Clean Up (Photostory)

Lilly: Samantha, Lissie, I’m worried about our Big Person! She hasn’t eaten properly in over a week, and she has been sleeping less and less with each passing day!
Sam: What could be the matter? I noticed that she’s been wandering around in circles in her room muttering and mumbling the most incoherent phrases recently.
Lissie: And it’s not like our big person to put off cleaning. She’s even more of a neat freak than you Lilly.
Lilly: Well, last night, her calendar was open, and I saw that she has an exam on Wednesday!
Sam: Oh how horrid! No wonder she hasn’t been eating and sleeping properly.

Lissie: Listen here, I have an idea. Since our Big Person is too busy, why don’t we help her?
Sam: How? We couldn’t possibly take her exam for her.
Lissie: No, but we can help her clean! You know how she hates it when everything is messy. She says it clutters up her mind when her space is cluttered.
Lilly: It’s a good idea Lissie… But remember how BIG everything is? It would take forever to get it all clean.
Lissie: Not if we all work together! Anyway, something is better than nothing. Who’s with me?
Lilly & Sam: We are!

Lissie: Wheeeee! Look Samantha! It’s like a spear of destruction!
Sam: ACHOOO!!! *sniff* Lissie, stop swinging the broom so wildly. You are supposed to sweep the dust into the pan, not spread it everywhere.
Lissie: Sorry Samantha! It’s fun to play with our Big Person’s things.

Lilly: This actually isn’t so bad. I’m almost done wiping the table and then we can wash the dishes.

Lilly: Omph! Our Big Person’s plates are heavy. Hurry Samantha, I don’t think I can support it much longer.
Sam: Hold on for just a big Sawako Lilly…. And… There! Okay, next plate!
Lilly: … There’s more?

Lissie: You know, I’ve always thought it’s strange that our Big Person is so much bigger than us, but I guess it’s no surprise she’s larger than us if she’s eating off of plates this big!

Sam: Okay Lissie and Sawako Lilly, on the count of 3, drop the socks.
Lissie: Roger Captain!
Lilly: Be careful you don’t get too excited and fall in Lissie!
Sam: Don’t worry Sawako Lilly, Lissie has been needing a bath after all.
Lissie: Hey!
Sam & Lilly: Ahahahaha!

Sam: While we wait for the clothes to wash, we can make our Big Person’s bed.

Lissie: Ahhhhhhhhhh….

Lilly & Sam: LISSIE!
Lilly: You’re supposed to help make the bed, not sleep in it Lissie.

Lilly: I’m glad the laundry is finally done. Was it this heavy earlier? Umph!
Lissie: ONWARD BRAVE SOLDIERS!
Sam: Uhun! You could come help push Lissie. Omph!
Lissie: I AM WASHINGTON CROSSING THE DELAWARE! DON’T FAIL ME NOW MEN!

Lilly: Perhaps General Washington would kindly feed Fishy Fish while Samantha and I fold the laundry?
Sam: Good idea Sawako Lilly. I don’t know how Lissie has so much energy after all we did today.

Lissie: Eat some food Fishy Fish! Why are you hiding?
Sam: You’re terrifying the poor soul Lissie.
Lilly: It’s probably never seen a creature so humongous.

Lissie: Whew! It’s finally done. I’m exhausted!
Sam: You’re exhausted? Impossible, General Washington!
Lilly: Do you think our Big Person will be happy?
Sam: Do you think our Big Person will even notice? She’s been so busy lately with studying.
Lissie: Of course she will! We swept, washed, wiped, folded, and even fed Fishy Fish! Our Big Person will definitely be happy! Think of how much more relaxed she’ll be now that her space is clean.
Sam: At least there’s one way you’re like General Washington Lissie.
Lissie: Really? It’s it my dashing good looks? Or my unbridled bravado? Or my distinguished figure?
Sam: Well, you certainly don’t have his humbleness, but I’m referring to your inspiring pep talks.
Lilly: Hahahaha! I can’t wait till our Big Person comes back!

I really do have my next anatomy exam tomorrow. I am the type of person who needs my space to be organized and clean before I can really study properly. It was a great help and so much fun to have the girls help clean. ^_^ Nothing too serious this time, but I hope everyone enjoys the pictures. Sawako Lilly, Lissie, and Samantha all say hi! :D

Lissie & Lilly: Episode 2 - I Hate Looking Different!

Lissie & Lilly: I Hate Looking Different! (Photostory)

On the first day of school for the girls...

Lilly: Are you excited for classes to start Samantha?
Sam: Yes indeed! I especially can’t wait to visit the library and go to Literature class! What are you looking forward to Sawako Lilly?
Lilly: I’m excited for all of my science classes! Though at this rate, we’ll have nothing to look forward to if Lissie doesn’t hurry.

Lilly: Lissie! We have to go or we’ll be la-
Sam: Lissie, don’t tell me you’re bringing that to school!
Lissie: I want to play ball at lunch! If you don’t give me something to look forward to, how do you expect me to stay on my rear end all day?

LUNCH TIME
Lissie: Samantha! You’ve been here this whole time reading?
Sam: Oh this school has such a marvelous collection of books Lissie! I think I lost track of time. Is lunch over already?
Lissie: Yup, almost anyways. I’m exhausted from playing. I hope I don’t fall asleep this afternoon. Have you seen Lilly?
Sam: No I haven’t, but then again, I haven’t really noticed much since I’ve been here reading.
Lissie: Well, it’s not like we don’t all live at the same place. See you later Samantha!

AFTER SCHOOL
Lissie: We’re home Lilly! Gosh, it’s not like her to go home by herself.
Sam: Let’s check the bedroom, she might have already gone up.

Sam: She’s not here. Where else could she be?
Lissie: There’s one other place she could be if she’s not here. She must be in our Big Person’s room. Come on Samantha!

Lissie: She’s in here! She’s sleeping on our Big Person’s bed.
Sam: I didn’t realize our Big Person has her own room too! Everything’s huge!

Lissie: I wonder why she’s sleeping.
Sam: Oh Lissie! Look at her face! She’s crying!

Lissie: What happened? Why is Lilly crying?
Sam: I don’t know! Something must have happened at school today.

Lilly: Uhmm… Lissie? Samantha? Did you two just get home?
Lissie: Lilly! Why are you crying? Did you fall or get hurt?
Sam: Did someone check out your favorite book?
Lissie: Did you get less than a perfect score on your assignment?
Sam: Did you lose your homework?
Lilly: Oh no… It’s not like that… I guess I just wasn’t feeling well. I’m sorry to have worried you two.
Sam: Don’t hide from us Sawako Lilly. Please tell us what’s bothering you.
Lissie: If Samantha or I were upset, think of how you’d feel Lilly.

Lilly: You’re right Lissie, I’m sorry. I just don’t really know how to tell you guys. It’s embarrassing.
Today during lunch, some of the other students were… talking to me.
Lissie: Oh tell me who they are Lilly! I’ll teach them a thing or two!
Sam: Shhh! Let her finish Lissie!
Lilly: They were making fun of me. One girl kept calling me teacher’s pet and suck up for knowing all the answers. Another boy said my eyes were slanted and narrow, then they all started to laugh and pull their eyes back too. It was terrible!
Sam: Oh Sawako Lilly… That’s horrid!

Lilly: I know I look different! I know I have narrow, slanted eyes! But there’s nothing I can change
about that. I’m so embarrassed I don’t even want to see anyone again. I hate being different!
Lissie: Don’t ever say that Lilly! They were just jealous!
Sam: Lissie’s right Sawako Lilly. They were just picking on you because they’re jealous of you.
Lissie: Come on Lilly, I’ll prove it to you!

Lissie: They called you teacher’s pet and suck up because they know they’re not as smart as you. You
work hard and you’re always studying, that’s why you get such high marks! You’re even studying the same things our Big Person is studying!
Sam: Those students don’t have your focus and they know it, so all they can do is pick on you because they wish they could be like you.

Sam: Here Lissie, try drawing what our Big Person was stressing over last night.
Lilly: Do you mean the brachial plexus?

Lilly: Is this what you were referring to Samantha? The brachial plexus is the series of nerves that control the muscles of the shoulder, arm, and hand.
Sam: Exactly! It even took our Big Person a whole night to figure out and memorize this spaghetti pile, but you already learned it. What other doll can do that? Medical school students would kill for a brain like yours!
Lissie: This is what we mean Lilly! Don’t you see how wonderful you are?

Lissie: Take a look. What do you see?

Lilly: I see myself. What am I supposed to see?

Lissie: Would you like to know what Samantha and I see? We see a really beautiful lady who is kind, smart, and wonderful.
Sam: You’re really lovely the way you are Sawako Lilly. Your eyes are unique and so gorgeous. You have such a sweet smile. The only thing prettier that your reflection in that mirror is your reflection inside. As long as you are such compassionate, caring, sincere person on the inside, you will never be ugly.
Lilly:

Lilly: … You both are wrong.
Lissie: Wha-
Lilly: You left out the most important part. The most important thing I see are the two best friends a person could ever want. As long as you two are there, I know everything will be alright. I love both of you! Thank you so much for reminding me what really matters.

Sam: Pffft!
Lilly: What are you laughing at Samantha?
Sam: Look at Lissie’s hair! It’s all over the place!
Lilly: Hahahahaha! You’re right! Oh you do look funny Lissie.
Lissie: It proves that I won the ball game today!
Lilly: Speaking of which… Lissie…. You forgot your vest, didn’t you?
Lissie: … … …

Lissie: NOOOOO!!!!! NOT AGAIN!!!! XD
Lilly & Sam: Hahahahaha! :D

I have my first anatomy exam for med school tomorrow so Sawako Lilly really did learn the brachial plexus with me. ^_^ This is a story that means a lot to me because I was bullied and picked on a lot when I was younger because I looked different and got good grades. XD For people that have also been bullied or hurt because they looked different, or were smart, please remember Lissie and Samantha’s words! :D

PS - Brag note, I'm really excited by how I worked the focus on the mirror photos! Notice that initially when Sawako Lilly looks at herself in the mirror, the reflection is blurry? That's supposed to represent that she hasn't fully accepted herself and 'can't see' herself for who she truly is. Then, in the next photo, the reflection is focused because Lissie and Samantha have shown her how they see her! :)
