Stock Photos for Melody Doll & Floral Peplum Dress

Thank you to one of our readers (Anonymous) who shared in the comments section this morning about the stock photos for the newest 1960s Beforever character, Melody's doll and her Floral Peplum dress which can be found on the Huffington Post website along with a great article with more details about the character and her story.

Huffington Post article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/meet-american-girls-new-historic-doll-from-the-civil-rights-era_us_56cb5d19e4b0ec6725e35e7f

Stock Photos:

It seems like the Floral Peplum dress will come with the dress (1 piece), gloves, shoes, and hair ribbon.

I am so glad to see AG promoting Melody and building up the hype and anticipation for her! The timing is great since it coincides with black history month. Also, I personally really prefer for AG to be the one revealing the "leaks" so this new system of having them give occasional sneak peeks makes me glad. ^_^

    1. I'm right there with you! I can't remember when I was last so excited for a doll's release! :D

  2. Melody is SOOOOOO cute! I really wish she had dimples though...
Someone pointed out that in the Floral Peplum Dress comes with some hair extension to make it more "bouncy." It does appear something is clipped on her hair above her bangs - or am I imagining it?

    1. I also would have loved to see how she would look with dimples! :) You know, I didn't realize it til you mentioned it, but you're right it does look like she's got something clipped in to give her that puffy hair look. I wonder if it's part of a hairstyling set for her, or if it's just the way they styled her hair for the photo?

    2. :) I'm not sure...it could be a hair styling set, or perhaps, like you said, that that's just the way AG styled it. We'll have to see!

    3. You definitely aren't imaging it! It seems like an extension of some sort. We will just have to see! :D

    4. Oh, yes! I just noticed, wow, that would be great! I totally would buy a hairstylist kit for this beauty.

  3. When I first saw Melody I was a little disappointed by the fact that she had no dimples, but at least it's not another Addy Mold!
But, now after all the stock photos and everything, I think I'm in love! I am especially interested in the 1960s and how black people were mistreated. We learnt about it when I was around 9 and ever since I have always been super interested. I found it crazy how people of a different skin colour could treated differently. I still remember he day in class when I literally shouted saying "That's not fair!" Even though I am not black. So it's brilliant that AG has finally addressed that. I think when I get Maryellen, Melody will have to be her best friend! I love singing myself but I'm a little shy, so hopefully I'll be able to relate to Melody's story. She is so cute! :-)
    IN CONCLUSION
    I need her now!

    1. I know! I just hate it when people are racist! Whenever people say to me: "Your skin color is different then mine! You're white! You aren't as good as me!" Or when Light skinned people say "Your ugly cause your black!" That makes me so mad! I mean, dude, we all are people for crying out loud! Some of my best friends have different skin colors than me and I couldn't care less! Sorry for getting all riled up. But yup, I agree with you 100%!

    2. I love the Addy mold. It is representative of many black girls and it is beautiful. Melody would have been beautiful if she had the Addy mold, just as she is beautiful with the Sonali mold.

    3. Yes, I think the mold is beautiful, and Melody would look amazing with one.But it is a nice change as there are only a couple dolls with the Sonali mold.

  4. Although she is pretty and I love her face mold I am most likely not get her and that is because of her hair it's textured and I am SCARED of textured hair :(

I do love the floral peplum dress and I will get it!

    1. I used to be afraid to buy a doll with textured hair, but I just had to have MyAG #42, & it turned out to be no big deal. Then I got brave enough to get Addy, & her hair is difficult to work with, but it's really THICK. I don't think Melody's hair will be much of a challenge. Cecile however, I passed on her bc I was afraid her curls would get frizzy. Now I regret not having her.

    2. Textured hair is actually the easiest hair to work with, and out of all my dolls Addy's hair is the easiest to style. It is super long (to her feet) and thick, and because it is textured, it is so easy to style it. The textured hair holds styles really well, especially compared to the slippery of dolls with straight hair like Julie. I don't have to worry about flyaways like I do with dolls without textured hair.

    3. Hmmmmmmmm this raises my opinion on Melody!!!!!!!!!! ;D

    4. I'm glad! Please don't be intimidated by textured hair. It's beautiful and so fun to play with on a doll. :)

  5. I love her flippy hair! She is very pretty and THANK YOU AG for using the Sonali mold!

    1. I totally agree! But I would have prefered a modified Sonali mold, with dimples.

    2. Oh yes, I see now! Down the bottom left, beside the prototypes, on the wall you can totally see its a extension! Yay! Thanks for sharing that :-)

    3. I think her flipped hair is a good look for her too, and leaves a lot of styling options as well. ^_^

  6. it is a hair extension, if you zoom in on one of the pictures taken at the early reveal you can see all of her collection, it will come with a hair extension, and some other stuff, hope this helps!

    1. It comes with the hair extension, pink headband, and flower corsage on her wrist, I zoomed in on the picture where all of the melody prototypes are in front of the plaques of her whole world

    2. I also zero ones in on her accessories, they seem to include bojanfles her dog, a hat, pin and purse, hope this helps!

    1. This is the first time since I started collecting again where AG has released a doll I feel I "must" have even if it means selling some of my other dolls to fund her. ^_^ She's so beautiful!

    2. So, when you get Melody, will she be in the Lissie and Lilly episodes? That would be great! :)

    3. I will definitely be getting Melody but I don't think she will be joining the L&L crew, just because 6 dolls is about all I can pose and fit into a photo frame in front of my scenes and settings books. :D

    4. That's okay! The L&L crew is great, even without Melody! :D

  9. I hope the floral dress isn't too expensive with the extensions, I was hoping to be able to get it along with a couple more of her things but if it's more than $40 or so then I'll probably just not bother.

    1. I'm still wondering if the extensions will come with the floral dress or be part of a hair styling set. Apart from the headband in Caroline's purple holiday outfit, I can't really think of when AG included a big hair piece with an outfit like this.
