Potential Limited Edition Holiday Dress for Truly Me

Thank you to the wonderful Gabbie who shared with me the link to an eBay listing for what appears to be an unreleased winter themed dress. I'm wondering if it could be the limited edition, store exclusive Truly Me winter outfit for this year. If so, I would guess it to be released around the end of November like in previous years. The auction is still ongoing so I will add the link to the bottom of this post once it ends.

Original eBay Photos:
I am assuming this is not the full outfit and that the final version would be paired with some sort of outerwear, hair accessory, and bag/purse like the previous limited edition outfits have been.

The dress itself looks a bit "cheap" to me just from the photos, partially due to how shiny and reflective the picture is, but I really do think it has the potential to be cute depending on what's paired with it. It's hard to make out the color from the photo and looks to be either white or a very very very pale lavender (though I'm hoping not since last year's dress was also lavender). The collar area on the bodice is decorated with rhinestones and the cap sleeves are a sheer tulle. There is a sheer tulle overlay on the skirt as well, decorated with glitter snowflakes and more rhinestones at the bottom.

The shoes are not exciting to me, just the standard AG flats, only glittery. I like the idea of mini heels like the first year's limited edition outfit.

Overall, I'm reserving judgement til I see this in person on a doll, just because it's so hard to tell from the photos what the final impact will be. ^_^ I both love sparkly things to a fault, and also don't want to fall into the gaudy sparkly trap so we will have to see. The outwear and accessories can make or break this outfit for me, but no matter what, unless it comes with a solid platinum cape, I hope the starting price tag won't be $72. XD

  1. I like that it's simple and understated, unlike the last couple of holiday dresses that AG has put out. Maybe since it's not super fancy, it won't be so expensive.

    1. Didn't last year's also get discounted? :D

And yes! I saw nana post the photo on AGC last night. ^_^ Nothing too surprising since AG leaked her already, but still so exciting! I can't wait to actually pick her up at the store!

  3. Pair this dress with the cape from the first year's exclusive gown and you have a pretty good White Queen outfit.

    1. If this dress ends up being white, I can definitely see that! ^_^

  4. I had already seen it and the white sweater outfit on ebay- considering bidding. :) If I do bid, you'll be one of the first to know.

  5. I am, however, not a fan of... this... costume. It looks like a cheap Cinderella costume.

    1. Thank you very much! ^_^ I am still not sure what to make of this outfit. It doesn't instantly make me go "WOW" but it has potential. :D

  6. The dress looks silver to me. It reminds me of Cinderella for some reason.

    1. It could be silver, though to my eyes it looks white, just relative to the silver glitter stars on the skirt part. It's so hard to tell from the photos! :D

  7. It's nice, but since I sew all my doll clothes, I can't help but notice how over easy this style would be to replicate at home. Every year, my grandma gives me loads of glittery-printed sheer fabrics she bought for her annual Christmas decorations.

Though I have to admit, making "wedding" dresses to my dolls with these scraps was one of my favorite past-time as a girl, so who knows, it could be successful with the target market. AG will have to load on the accessories to make it worth the rice to parents though.

    1. I've seen some of the outfits you've made Mathilde! This is definitely something you could make easily, with fabrics of your choosing for certain. ^_^ AG really will have to pair it with some really fantastic accessories though. And I agree, I hope the price is reasonable. :D

  8. Cute dress for the holidays. Would be closer to loving it if the sash at the waist ties in a bow at the back. I know bows in back have disappeared from a lot of 7-14 clothing, being now for younger girls, so I assume an 18" AG would follow along. It does depress me when I see a really cute dress on a girl, but instead of a bow, the sash is tied in a knot....

    1. I think bows in the back are not the style currently, though AG is certainly generous with the bows everywhere else it seems.

  9. This looks very cheap and costume-y, like Caroline's fail-whale Party Gown. The color and glitter details are nice, but I wish we could have a nice green dress. I appreciate the color tho, but as it stands, th dress diesn't look too Limited Edition, the orevious gowns had embroidery, tulle ruffles, and the like.

    1. Perhaps this dress could be like the Joyful Jewels dress, where it costs $30 something and goes with the Holiday Accessories. If that`s the case, then I can see this being released with Melody in August.

    2. If it was the dress alone at $36, I still think I'd find that too expensive.... :D The Joyful Jewels outfit lingered on the sale page for a long time so hopefully AG can price the outfit appropriately to avoid this.

  10. Solid platinum cape-that made me laugh. That's how I feel about a lot of AG releases-this BETTER come with real this or real that to justify this expense!

    1. Hahaha yes! I don't mind a high price if the quality is worth it, but just from the photos of this dress so far, I'm not quite feeling it's at $58 level yet, or even $36.

  11. It seems like I'm in the minority here, but I actually like it! It's different from what AG usually makes but unlike last year's exclusive outfit, it still says "holiday".

  12. It is pretty, but it looks kind of cheap. Honestly? I preferred last year's.

    1. Based off these photos, I do as well. :/ I like giant ballgowns and this just falls a little short for me.
