Rumors of Girl of the Year 2016 Name?

PleasantMemories on AGPT found that last week AG filed a trademark for the name Gabriela with the US Patents & Trademarks Office, as it pertains to "Dolls, Doll Clothing, and Doll Accessories" and gave us permission to share the news.

Could this be the new GotY 2016 name? ^_^ Or a new historical? My guess is for a GotY.

    1. No reason she can't be a black latina! :D Am I asking for too much AG? You can do it!

Thank you! I can't take credit for it since PleasantMemories was the one who found it. I'm so glad she gave me permission to share the excitement! ^_^

    3. Well, I don't think she should be African American, because a lot of people can't relate to that. I think they should make one that is African American who is best friends with the girl of the year. But it isn't our choice any way,

    4. Everyone can, but not everyone cares enough to try to relate to minorities and people of color. I strongly disagree with you.

    6. its not nice to judge people because I think a African american would go great as a girl of the year.

    7. Thank you for voicing your support for a black GOTY character Glam Gabriella! I'm sorry the 2016 GOTY's name is not Gabriella but there's no reason why you can't name here that, and treat Lea as a nickname. ^_^

  2. Interesting! A black latina would be cool! Gabriela's a pretty name, too. :)

    1. It is! I think I usually see it spelled with 2 "L"s but it sounds like music when you say it! ^_^

  3. I read somewhere next year there will be a new African American BeForever. As for GOTY, any race but "light skin" will be nice.

    1. Yes, AG posted on their Facebook page there will be a new black historical character next year, which is super nice. I don't think there's anything wrong with "light skin" dolls representing white characters but I think it is necessary and important for them to provide that same representation to minorities as well. :)

    1. Either way I will be so excited if the GotY is a doll representing a minority group! ^_^

    2. It's Italian with some Hebrew origins. It's not necessarily an African American name. It's my sisters name and she's white.

    3. That's a good point that anyone of any phenotype/background could have that name though I'm still very much hoping for a black GotY doll. :D We'll just have to see!

    1. That's true, we never know what AG will do! For me that's what makes the leaks so exciting, is the wondering. ^_^

  6. I like it! Gabriela sounds like a good name for like a tween girl. It COULD be a beforever doll, but Gabriela sounds more modern to me. So it is probably a GOTY or a goty code name (like Blanche, Coco, ect.) If it were a beforever, It would definitley be in the 20th century like maybe 80s lol.

    1. It definitely could be a code name, but even so I am leaning towards saying it's for a GotY. :)

    2. I would love an 80s doll. I was born in 1975. This would be perfect.

    3. The code name is Gemma, it's on the film description.

    4. you spell your name like Bri that's how I spell it because its usually spelled like brie

  7. Since there are rumors of an AA historical, that might be that dolls name, but with AG you never know. Hopefully there is a different race for the next GOTY.

  8. I saw a picture of the mini doll and it she definitely wasn't white, she looked kind of Hispanic with brown hair and her dress was woven to look Mexican I think.

    1. I saw the photo of her mini doll as well. :) From the casting call, we know she is "mixed" so it's very likely she will be half Hispanic and half white.

  9. I think Gabriella will be a American Mexican girl of the year 2016 and Melody will be an African American beforever from the 60s or 20s

    1. It has already been confirmed the 2016 Girl of the Year will be named "Lea Clark" and mixed (most likely Hispanic, but this is not confirmed).

  12. Gabriela is a pretty name but I kind of think honestly Lea sounds Italian. I was hoping for a name like Alexandra, Isabella, Clare, Megan, Lucy or Ella. But when I first saw her she looked like Lea actually fits her.
