Photos of Purple Tie Dye Dress for GOTY 2016 Lea Clark on Dolls

A fellow AG enthusiast has very kindly sent me photos of the Purple Tie Dye Dress that was leaked on eBay a while back and rumored to be for the Girl of the Year 2016, Lea Clark, to share here. The outfit is modeled on Kanani & Caroline dolls.

The jacket does not come with the outfit and is only there to show what it would look like with the straps covered. I do prefer it this way as I am not a fan of the strap style on this dress.


I'm still not a fan of the shoulder straps. It looks like they were sewn down into the bow shape.

The straps just don't appear balanced with the rest of the outfit, especially the style of the elastic neckline.

Here is the embroidered "Lea Clark" symbol that is also on her messenger bag.

I am disappointed by the sandals. They do not match up to what I have come to expect from AG in terms of aesthetics and quality. To my eyes, they look very plasticy/rubbery.

Thus far, I feel like this is the least appealing Lea Clark outfit for me, though I hope it is a success with children. The tie dye is a cute concept but I don't think it was executed well in the dress. Instead, it comes off looking baggy and poorly designed.
My vote? In the "will not buy even if on sale" category.

    It seems REEEEEEALLY short for what AG usually does... I have to agree, this won't end up in my stuff!

      Yes, the length bothered me too, though I forgot to mention it since I was so focused on the straps. :D

    The flats look very cheap and the straps are just meh. They would look better without the bows. The dress doesn't look so bad with a jacket though. Thanks for posting!

    The color is pretty, but the dress is just ill-fitting. It looks like someone made it out of a sock.

      Hahaha! That's a good way to describe it! I do find it frumpy, or at least, it doesn't fall in a way that is attractive to me.

    I like almost everything in Lea's collection but this is.... different. The dress is WAY too short, and the acid washed tie dye is a little off-putting. Also, the sandals are very cheap looking. I hope this is a prototype!!!

      This is also my least favorite item in Lea's collection thus far. :/ Unfortunately, I'm almost certain this isn't a prototype since we are so close to the release and so many of these have popped up on eBay.

      Oh I didn't think of that, but a swim coverup would be a good idea for this! Especially since it did mention in Lea's book summaries that she goes swimming. :) I hope so!

    I agree with "will not buy even if on sale" and take it further- "would not buy if last AG outfit on earth." I can sew something cuter than this, easy.

    I think I'm one of the few people who like the design of this dress. :P
    I don't really like the flip-flops and it's definitely too short, but especially as a swimsuit cover up I think it's good. The shoes would make sense for going to the pool, too, since she wouldn't wear them around a rainforest.

    I have a romper which looks almost exactly like this, right down to the almost indecent length! (though I only wear it at home or at the beach). I think I might have to get this outfit just so that we match.

      I saw that! It's an interesting tactic. I personally have no desire to own the outfit so I'm not too heart broken over this, but it is really frustrating for those who do want the outfit.
