American Girl of the Year 2016 Lea Clark's Wardrobe

We have a real treat on L&L today for all of you readers that have been eagerly following all the leaks for next year's Girl of the Year 2016, Lea Clark! One of our readers has Lea's complete leaked wardrobe collection (barring the swimsuits which are still unclear whether they actually are for Lea or the Truly Me line). She has taken a group photo of all of her dolls dressed in Lea's outfits, and generously sent us the photos to share here for everyone to see.

So now that you have all seen the complete leaked collection for our Girl of the Year 2016 Lea Clark, what do you think? Overall, now that I’ve seen everything together, I do think it works very well and is a cohesive wardrobe. I like that the theme is evident (bold colors, tribal prints, tropical climate) and is very different from Grace’s collection which is more European in design. I think there is a good balance of “loud” and “calm” outfits and overall I do feel the collection is a success for me, even if individual pieces may not appeal to me (I’m looking at your Purple Tie Dye Dress/Swimsuit Cover up thing). :D American Girl did a great job creating a fun, exciting collection, and something very different and unique from any of the outfits they have come out with in recent years.

    I really do love this collection, like you said. However, unlike Grace's collection, there is not a set color scheme and there doesn't seem to be much mix and match potential as only two outfits seem to have separate pieces (I', excluding the PJs here). That could change, though, and I hope it does.

      I think you make a good point that there is less mix and match potential with Lea's wardrobe, and even her meet outfit dress is in one piece. Hopefully AG will come up with more outfits for Lea at the mid year release that can fit this bill. :) Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts!

      Yes, hopefully. I did notice though, she seems to have a lot of outfits. Either American Girl is adding more outfits, some of these are prototypes, or a couple are for Truly Me/Mid-year release. I can't wait for her to come out!

      Yes, I am fairly certain that the Green Parrot Romper are her PJs set and the cat face PJs are a prototype. :)

    It doesn't appeal to me as a collecton. I'm feeling that this GOTY is looking like an attempt to recreate Jess, but it's not working for me.

    I like the swimsuits, but that's pretty much all. Lea's collection isn't my taste, but it's still pretty cute. :)

    Most of it has grown on me, except for the creepy (prototype hopefully) cat shirt and the tie dye thing.

      Yes! I am almost 100% certain the creepy cat PJs are a prototype or factory frankenoutfit and the real PJs will be the Green Parrot Romper. :D Thank goodness too!

      I really do hope children look her collection! I want the first medium vinyl colored doll in 5 years to sell fantastically well so AG will be encouraged to develop more GOTY characters that represent children of color. :)

    To me the collection looks more Latin-American than African influenced. With the names of the characters, it's possible that Africa wasn't the real name of the country either. The rain forest in Brazil is still a huge battle between environmentalists and capitalists. The African American actresses they chose are lighter skinned, so they could play a Latina. Rehane's character is named Adriana which is definitely more Latin. If you look at the current pic of Maggie on IMDB, her features can definitely pass for mixed Latina. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1369619/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t2

      I don't think it was ever in Africa for the setting. The movie audition script usually uses codes names and locations. Lea's story is taking place in Brazil according to her book summaries.
